Protect Yourself!

Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a telephone # into the search bar and hit enter, and you will be given the person's name and address. If you then hit Mapquest, you will get a map to the person's house! This is a potentially dangerous way for predators to find your home and your children! You can test to see if your phone number is mapped by going to google and typing in your full telephone number. You may block google from giving any information out by clicking on your number and then clicking the Removal Form. Removal takes about 48 hours. Better safe than sorry. DA

My First Entry

Today is a cold winter day, and this is my very first posting.

Sad State of NC High School Dropouts

11/9/07

I recently read a report produced by the Milton & Rose D. Friedman Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to giving parents an educational choice for their children. The study details that 1/3 of NC high school students dropped out of school in 2005. This disheartening number of young people leaving school before graduation figures to cost NC over $150 million per year: 1) lost revenue from taxes and fees 2) increased Medicaid costs and 3) increased incarceration costs. These numbers only continue to illustrate the philosophy that "no man is an island unto himself." As a society, as a community, we must all do our part in being responsible citizens who contribute to our "neighbor's" wellfare; for, in doing so, we fulfill one of our God-given roles of supporting "one another." Live for others, and you will really live.

Pensacola here we come!

11/9/07

7 of our seniors are making plans to attend "Senior College Getaway" at Pensacola Christian College in Florida. They will fly out of here on 11/14 and return on 11/16 to experience Christian college life for a couple of days. Ashley, my daughter, is thrilled with the prospect of seeing some of her friends from BBA. This trip is sponsored and funded by ABeka Books, Inc in appreciation for the years of curriculum the Academy has purchased. Thanks, ABeka Books, for the opportunity you have given our students!
