You can always tell when the seasons are changing here at BBA- we go from one sport to the next! Basketball has just ended recently with several of our athletes competing in Raleigh at the annual "All Star Weekend" festivities hosted this year by Raleigh Christian. Allie Paschal and Bradley Smith each represented BBA in the 3-point shooting contest. Gregory Adams took 2nd in the state in free throw shooting, while Jordan Woosley won the girl's division of the same category. Both Jordan and junior Ryan Ikeya were standout players in their respective all star game performances.
As one sport ends, 2 more begin! The Bulldog boys baseball team lost their first game against cross-town powerhouse Village Christian 12-2. They are a relatively young team with only 2 seniors on the roster- Gregory Adams and Jared Smith. The Lady Bulldogs soccer team takes the field March the 10th against Village, also.
Please remember to support our athletes as well as our fine arts performers as well as the rest of our students in all of their various endeavors- we have a GREAT group of students who need our love, support, and prayers. Thanks to all who take the time to encourage our young people!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We at BBA trust that you all are having a phenomenal start to 2009! God has been so good to our church and school ministry- He proves Himself strong and faithful to meet our every needs. Praise God for our entire student body that has reached a record high of 346 precious young ladies and young men!
Basketball season is in full motion, and our High School Drama class is gearing up for their stirring performance of "Crossroads at Columbine" to be presented at Berean Baptist Church on Sunday, January 25th at 6:00 pm in the main sanctuary. We are praying that God will use this performance to stir hearts and change lives for His honor and glory.
Our "Homecoming Weekend" is just around the corner during the last weekend in January. BBA Bulldogs will play host to the Liberty Christian Knights on Friday, January 30th. There will be a brunch on Saturday, followed by a huge Homecoming service on Sunday, February 1st. We are anticipating a great turnout of current and not-so-current alumnae and their families!

"AN EVENING OF CHRISTMAS FUN"
Miss Julie Love, BBA's music and band instructor, put on a wonderful program last night in BBC's Spanish Chapel! Our Senior High Choir, Advanced Band, and Senior High Drama delighted the near-capacity crowd with stirring Christams music and acting. There were fun facts, trivia questions, a Christmas costume contest- won by our very own Mary Stubbs- and door prizes. If you would like to get a DVD or CD of the performance, simply email your request to kandrews@bbcfnc.org- the cost is only $8.00.

THANKSGIVING IS UPON US!
A lot has transpired since October 1st. Our Cross Country teams each took 4th place in the state in their first year of competition. Emily Dundore placed 2nd in the state! Berean Baptist Academy unveiled its new lighted school sign that also has a marquee. Our girls Varsity volleyball team took 4th place in the 2A division of our state! Seventeen of our senior students traveled to Pensacola Christian College in Florida to experience college life for 2 days. This trip was made possible by the funding of ABeka curriculum which is produced there on the PCC campus. Several of our seniors and their families have made trips, or will be making trips, to other Christian colleges in the days and weeks to come. Five of our Advanced Band members participated in the NCCSA State Band Festival held at Wake Christian Academy in Raleigh. These were several days of intense instruction that culmintaed with 3 fantastic concerts given on Saturday, November 15th. Basketball tryouts were held, completed, and teams chosen for the 2008/2009 Bulldog season! All 4 teams played their first games on Tuesday, November 18th at Massey Hill Baptist Church. JV boys lost a heartbreaker 37-35 in overtime. The JV girls, Varsity girls, and Varsity boys each won their contests. Thanksgiving break begins 1 week from today. This is an extremely special time for believers to spend time with their family and friends as we reflect upon how good our God really is to us and to our nation. Thank you, Lord, for all of your good and perfect gifts!

Where Have I Been??
I want to apologize to anyone who may view this blog regularly- I have been delinquent in keeping up with my writings because....No reason! Life always throws many challenges into our path, and we are the ones who need to humble ourselves before our mighty God and seek His will and His direction for our lives. So much has transpired over the past 6 months that my head is spinning just to think of all that God has allowed and brought us through as a ministry.
Our 2008 seniors raised tons of money and spent a fun-filled week in New York City with their sponsors: Mr. and Mrs. Woosley and Mr. and Mrs. Baughan.
Garduation 2008 was an emotional time of reflection and giving of thanks by our seniors to those who truly deserve it- Moms and Dads.
God blessed in tremendous ways this summer as we were able to open our new, state-of-the-art Preschool building; paint all of the classrooms and hallways; enoyed a stirring time in Teacher InService; and had a great Parent/Teacher Orientation night to prepare for the new year.
God blessed in a wonderful way as we began the school year with 335 precious children- all praise to Him for supplying us with good families, again!
Pastor Sean determined to take all of our high school students to 3 days of "school camp" at The Acnchorage in Lake Waccamaw, NC. God did a huge work in the lives of our students and adult sponsors as we enjoyed challenging messages, had lots of fun with team competitions- won by our senior class!- saw great examples of student leadership, and simply enjoyed ourselves together as a school. We saw 2 of our precious new students come to know the Lord as their personal Savior!!
Our varsity volleyball team took 3rd place in our annual Bulldog Classic, and our boys soccer team took 2nd in the same tournament.
Here we are, midway through the 1st quarter of school, and God is working in the lives of our students in tremendous ways as the spirit of the Academy is "heavenly!"
All praise and honor to Him who makes life and eternal life possible!

2008 BEREAN BAPTIST SPRING FORMAL
Friday, March 28th saw the BBA gymnasium turned into an amazing, enchanted castle where over 50 senior high students from several different schools were treated to a wonderful night at the "Masquerade Ball." Mrs. Kimberly Morrison and her many helpers worked tireless hours to make this year's formal one of the best ever! Amid the lights, candles, draperies and other decorations were the sounds of the "Phantom of the Opera" soundtrack. Mrs. Naomi Hooks cooked a fabulous dinner of salad, rolls, vegetables, potatoes, and cornish hens that was finished off by homemade desserts and Cheescake Factory cheescake. A "roasting" of outgoing youth pastor Steve Rahn was followed by games, senior superlatives, farewell videos and, many other enjoyable events that made the night a phenomenal experience for all who attended. Many, many, many heartfelt thanks to all of those adults, high schoolers and junior high students who gave so much of their time and energy to make the formal a wonderful success!
